This new campus spot has taken over the space that previously was Flavour Lab and before that Iwana Taco. El Cartel was a food truck before moving into the Nest and this location is operated by those people, not the AMS. The veggie rice bowl was delicious. They know what they're doing with seasoning in there - everything from the fried cauliflower to the beans to the rice was robustly seasoned. Really enjoyable. It was a big portion and I thought I would end up not finishing some of the rice but ended up getting pretty close because it was almost too good to stop eating. The horchata was also good. Went back and tried a monster burrito, which was also great. The prices are very reasonable for the big portions. The guy who took my order was super nice, and my order was ready pretty quickly. Great addition to campus.

My go to is the steak on fries, but I sometimes get the mexicali chicken rice bowl too. Service is very friendly and quick. The food is great and generous with the portions, especially for the price. Definitely give it a try if you haven’t

I recently visited El Cartel's new location at UBC and tried their veg bowl and it was a fantastic experience! The flavors were absolutely amazing, especially the vegetable medley in the bowl. Every bite was packed with a lots of different flavours. The quality of the food was exceptional, and it truly exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely be coming back to try it again. Highly recommend El Cartel to anyone looking for delicious, flavorful meals.

El Cartel ‘s incredibly tasty Mexican fusion food was a hit with our guests at my milestone birthday celebration. Booking a food truck takes the stress out of hosting an event and definitely makes the clean up easier. RJ is easy to work with, and his professional delivery made our party a great success. Excellent variety and generous portions served right on schedule for 28 guests. Thanks RJ.
